Our Location
Roberton Walks, a booklet produced by the local community group, provides information and maps of many local walks, from easy strolls to longer hikes. The booklet is available in the property.
The peaceful countryside is also perfect for riding and a local riding school offers hacks for all levels of rider. Salmon and trout fishing are available on the Teviot nearby.
Golf enthusiasts are also well catered for with 11 courses in the immediate area including the well-regarded courses at Hawick and the Roxburghe.
The nearest town, 10 miles from the cottage, is Hawick, a former mill town still famous for its cashmere. It has a range of cafes and restaurants, supermarkets and shops, a leisure centre and an excellent cinema complex.
The Hawick Common-Riding Festival held in June is the first of the Border Common Ridings and celebrates the ancient custom of riding the marches or boundaries of the common land.
Further afield are the charming Border Abbey towns of Kelso, Jedburgh and Melrose, while Edinburgh is a scenic 1.5 hour drive away. The new Borders railway will take you to Edinburgh in under an hour from Galashiels.
